DCM (methylene chloride, methylene bichloride is an organochlorine chemical having the formula CH2Cl2. This colourless, volatile liquid with a sweet, chloroform-like odour is commonly employed as a solvent. Although it is insoluble in water, it is mildly polar and miscible with a wide range of organic solvents.
It is an efficient paint stripper due to its ability to dissolve and remove different types of paint coatings. Also,it is utilized in the formulation of adhesives and sealants. It can dissolve and blend various adhesive components, enabling the production of strong and durable bonding agents.
